DSTV Episode 1
Here we are, finally… episode one of Digital Scrapbooking TV. Now I have to warn you, this episode went a little long… Longer than I am planning on most episodes being… I learned something about myself… I’m a talker… heheh See I really want to teach you all everything I know so I’m kinda detailed in my explanations. I’ll try to get better… Since the video is so long, it’s a little over 80MB, if you click the button on the player to watch online, it will probably take a long time to load. So I highly recommend clicking on the Download link and choosing “Save Target As…” or “Save Link As…” Then you can watch it whenever you want on your computer.
I also wanted to note that I am leaving for Mexico in the morning so unfortunately, if there are any technical difficulties, I will not be around to answer your questions for at least a week. But please feel free to post any questions you have on the forums and the Creative Team gals will try to answer as best they can.
Now, onto the episode. We start out with a makeover tutorial, showing you how to quickly fix up your portraits for a natural looking virtual facelift. Then, watch me as I hang out with Hollie (of Holliewood Studios) and Sue (aka Simonetti Rossi). Hollie has an awesome tutorial on weaving ribbons in and out of alphas and Sue introduces us to the pattern overlay features of Photoshop. Lastly, I show you yet another way to do Hollie’s ribbon weaving technique using Layer Masks. I love that there are so many different ways of doing things in Photoshop so I thought it would be cool to show that off.
A few show notes.
- For Hollie’s ribbon weaving technique we used her Wish Upon A Star Kit and her Kraft Paper Alpha. Don’t forget to grab that coupon code she mentions in the video to save on her store all month long!
- The paper pack Sue made with the patterns she showed in her tutorial will be available November 5th. Her coupon code is good until January 30, 2008!!! Check out her store at Sophia Sarducci here.
- CT gal Nikki B found a site with a free action for using layer masks in PSE. The tools are called Grant’s Tools and you can find those here.
- All the way at the end of the video you will see mention of a contest, here are the details again:
- Create a layout using a technique you learned in this video
- Post it in a public gallery
- Make sure that in your description, you mention that you learned the technique here at www.digitalscrapbookingtv.com
- E-mail a link to the layout to contest at digitalscrapbooking tv dot com
- Deadline is November 14, 2007 at 11:59PM EST
- The random winner will receive $10 gift cards for Shawna Clingerman, Kate Hadfield, and myself, Jen Caputo!
Alright, I’ll shut up now. Enjoy! I recommend clicking the download link and saving to your hard drive (or better yet, grab the rss feed and put it into your podcast organizer so it will automatically download the new episodes as they become available).
Edited to add: if you are having trouble viewing the video, please make sure you are downloading it to your own computer and that you have Quicktime 7 installed.

I am sure the tutorial is FABULOUS guys!! I can’t wait to watch it but I can’t seem to get it to play or download!! Grrrr!!! I’ll be back in the morning to try again!!
Well done on a fantastic first episode. I am now feeling very inspired and eager to get out some of my photos and give retouching a go. Thanks so much.

Thanks so much for the video. It makes it so much easier to learn to be able to see what you are doing. What a wonderful idea!
I loved the tutorial. It sounds like you guys have a lot of fun when you get together. My only problem was that I have Photoshop 7.0 and my options are different….I figured most of it out but it was a lot harder than your way.
I really enjoyed watching this video!!! Great job, ladies! Can’t wait for the next episode. This is so fun…
I love your show. All of the main tv shows on scrapbooking are for paper, and a lot of the tutorials I find are mainly for Photoshop Elements. I love having video tutorials for Photoshop CS 3. Great work, I will eagerly await your next episode!
Fabulous show! Thanks for being Mac & Elements friendly throughout! I learned a lot! Fabulous idea!
That was so much fun! Thank you for putting all that together. I learned so much!

Thanks Jen I used the alpha and ribbon tutorial…I found that if you have a word alpha you can do this in about 4 steps. Thanks for the tutorial. Some goooooood stuff here.
Yay! My digi dare layout this week uses the threading technique! thanks so much for the info!
